Hey there, Y’all!
I just finished setting up my craft room. Which also serves as my office, a prayer room, or where I will go to read the bible. It’s also a place I play the piano, or I go to sit, just to look out the window to bird watch and look at God’s creation. That is where I get ideas and create!
What’s The Purpose?
The purpose of my craft room and office space is to do all the things that I am passionate about, which is also why I started my business and blog page here at Show- Me Daily Life. The vision of all this came to my heart in 2014. I launched my webpage in 2016.
My heart is to share hope as we live it. Our hope comes from the Lord. ( Jer. 29:11)
The Vision
Show- Me Daily Life is a look into our daily life as we live it. Life full of Faith, Family, Fun, Food, DIY, and Tidbits. Sharing organization ideas. Designing everything from crafts, to home decor and make overs. Sharing recipes, money saving tips, and much more.
Currently we are renting a place, after we sold our home over a year ago. We are in transition deciding if we are going to purchase again while we wait for the market to hopefully change.
Our place we are renting we love, it has the space that I need. So I am using an extra bedroom for my all in one craft room and office space. I say all this to show, you don’t have to own your own place to make space for what you want to do with your visions and dreams!
Craft Room and Office Space
Most of the things that I am using in my craft room and office space have been repurposed. I love to find ways to re-use items that I have on hand already. I love a great bargain! Sometimes it’s something old that just needs a new purpose or a make over.
Like the white dresser used in my craft room and office space. We repurposed by painting it and I now use it to store multi-purposed items. We even recently painted the piano to lighten it up and give it a fresh new look.
The ideas of what you can do with what you have can be endless.
Getting Organized On a Budget
Organization gets me excited, I love seeing things placed in bins, totes, shelves, baskets, cubbies, you name it! When it’s all organized and easy access,I love it! It not only looks nice, it makes things more simplified when its easy to find them.
Many of the items I use for my organization have been purchased at The Dollar tree, like all the white and green plastic bins. The rest of the baskets and totes I bought when the items were on clearance from Walmart.
In my craft room and office space closet I have a utility cart on wheels that I bought for under $40 at Sam’s Club. I use it for my gift wrapping items. I use a tall laundry basket to hold all my wrapping paper.
Also for storage use in that closet I took an old bookshelf that we painted white and lined with contact paper. We used The Dollar Tree plastic bins to store paints, markers, stamps and stamp pads, and other supplies.
I have a cute paint brush holder, yes another Dollar Tree find! I use the white bins to store wired ribbons for wreath making, and other decor.
A Great Find!
I just purchased this white desk that we got on sale for $50 at Walmart. We had to purchase the desk online for the deal. We just did so by using their pick up services. One thing that we changed on the desk is my husband installed the two glass knob drawer pulls for me.
I love it, it sits perfect right in front of my window so I can blog as I am right now ! I am able to look outside all while I am blogging!
Using What You Have On Hand.
For my craft table I am using a tall kitchen table that I just covered with Peva tablecloth that I bought on clearance after Easter a couple of years ago. It’s great for protecting my table top, its easy to clean and I think its pretty. This table space give me so much room to make and do many things!
We bought the pegboards from Lowes and I had my husband spray paint them to add color. he then used white trim to frame them out for me. I wanted a finished look and for it to look like a large picture frame to store more supplies.
I bought the Curtain lights for $20 on Amazon. The flowers I bought at The Dollar Tree. They came with clips on them so I was careful to clip them on the hook part of the curtain lights, and not on any part of the cord.
The cubbies I had on hand they used to be in our son’s rooms. We purchased those from Ikea a few years back. I actually would recommend those if you’re wanting any kind of cubbies. Very sturdy, and I like the style better than others I have seen.
What’s Behind The Name?
All the decor you see, well I used is stuff from different places, The “Home” sign is a little craft project that I just did as a DIY project. The letters and the Missouri state are the paintable wood cut outs. I bought all those at our local Walmart. My idea of the craft project was to go along with one my home, and my home state is Missouri.
Missouri is known as “The Show-Me State” this is where my business name is taken from . As well as jus the words “Show-Me” had a meaning to me at the start of or the birth of my vision.
That meaning and that vision is this, as I have already mention at the top of this post. Which is to give a look into our daily life as we live it.
Life full of Faith, Family, Fun, Food, DIY, and Tidbits. Sharing hope as we live it.
